Isn't She Lovely*

Hello, All,

My apologies if I haven't been as active in the last day or so in the blogosphere as I usually am. However, I think this counts as an excuse :-).

I'd like to introduce my brand-new grand-daughter, Lelah Amaya Lopez, born at 4:12am U.S. Pacific time 16 March 2011, 3.24 kg, 51.4 cm.

Mum and baby are both doing very well. Grandma hasn't slept for 26 hours and is taking the day to rest.

I'll be back tomorrow - promise!!

*NOTE: The title of this post is the title of a Stevie Wonder song.

  1. Oh, she's a adorable. Congratulations Margot. So glad both mother and daughter are doing well. Now, I know it's hard but get some rest so you can begin spoiling that little angel. Congrats again. Happy dance time. :)

  2. Mason - Aww...thank you :-). It most certainly is Happy Dance time! And I am very much looking forward to spoiling Lelah....after I get some sleep ;-).

  3. What a beauty! Congratulations on your grandmamahood, Margot. Get a little sleep so you can fight over holding her. :)

  4. She is very lovely. Congratulations to you and to Lelah and her family.

  5. Hi Margot .. congratulations to Lelah for arriving so safely and to her parents, and you Grandma for sticking it out .. and no wonder the rest is needed .. ?! Enjoy the zizzing time .. cheers Hilary

  6. Elizabeth - Thank you :-). Funny you would mention fighting over holding her. Both of us new grandmothers have already been having sooo much fun taking turns holding her. I don't think she'll lack for lovin' :-).

Alan - Thank you :-). Much appreciated!

Mary - Thank you! And I must say I agree - she really is lovely. Not that I am biased... ;-).

Hilary - Thank you! And believe me, I intend to make ample use of some "down time" today! :-). And trust me; I lost some sleep, but my beautiful daughter was the real trouper.

  7. Congratulations Margot. We are also celebrating this date on this side of the pond, my daughter's birthday. My best wishes to the new baby girl and to her family.

  8. The best excuse in the whole world, Margot!

Thank you for sharing the pictures and the great news.

  9. I am so happy she's arrived. There is nothing, and I mean, nothing like a grandchild.

  10. Congratulations. When there is so much going on that is terrible to think about remembering the daily miracles of life is so important.

  11. José Ignacio - Thank you :-). My grand-daughter is lucky to share a birthday with a member of your family. I hope your daughter enjoyed her special day!

Dorte - Why, thank you! I thought it was a good excuse, too :-). And believe me, I am enjoying sharing the news :-).

Patti - Thanks! I am, too. I'm already discovering the truth of what you say, and mine's less than one day old.

  12. What a happy day for your family! I'm so glad Mum and babe are doing well. Sleep, Margot! You deserve it! Let's hope your daughter gets a chance for a nap as well.

  13. Oh, she's adorable. I'm around a lot of Mexican/Spanish babies and they are all so cute! Glad mum and baby are okay.

  14. Indeed she is lovely, and has a beautiful name. Congratulations Grandma and glad to hear that all are well. Now get some sleep :)

  15. Congratulations Grandma - and all the best to your family and the new little one

  16. Golden Eagle - Thank you! :-)

Elspeth - It is truly a happy day for all us. And thanks; we're happy, too, that everyone's healthy. We're all going to try and get some rest... assuming the baby and dogs let us ;-).

  17. Clarissa - Thank you! And yes, she is already absolutely bewitching us with those big brown eyes of hers - and not even a day old! I think I'm going to like being a grandma :-).

Bernadette - Thank you so much! I think she's lovely, too; of course, I am biased ;-). And yes, I am quite relieved that everyone's well. That's the most important thing. Now for some catch-up sleep... ;-).

Kerrie - Thank you! I really appreciate the kind wishes. I know you know exactly how I feel...

  18. Nothing nothing nothing matches the joy of having a new grandchild. God bless her and her family. Grammies too.
There will be enough of her to go around.
I don't think love spoils a baby so go ahead and love her all you can possibly.
I have eight grandchildren and doubt there will be more. Youngest if four and I'm told no more. I'm a bit sad.
Love the pic you shared. Thanks.
    Blessings, Barb

  19. Barb - Thank you! So glad you liked the picture. You're right, too; a new grandchild is really a true joy. I think children benefit from having a lot of people to love them, and grandparents have a special kind of love, so I intend to give her lots of it! You are fortunate to have eight grandchildren. I'm sure they've really enriched your life :-).

  20. Annie - Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond to you until now. You are so right; with so many sorrowful things going on in the world, it is truly joyous when such a good thing happens. Thanks for your kind and wise words!

  21. Congrats, Margot, the new parents and Grand Dad!

"Two little feet, ten little toes,
    Leave their impressions today.
Soon they will wear two little shoes,
And be running and jumping at play.
Two little feet, too little time,
Before they are walking to school,
Kicking a rock, or skipping a rope,
Wading a puddle or jumping a pool.
Two little feet, One little child,
Will soon go their own way,
But footprints in my mind recall,
    They stood here yesterday.

  22. She is indeed lovely. Congratulations Grandma.

  23. Christine - Thank you! And thanks for that beautiful poem. You know, that's exactly how I feel about how quickly my daughter has grown up! Amazing to think she is now a mother herself... And I'm sure she'll feel the same way about her own daughter. I am so glad you shared that poem! :-)

  24. Helen - Thank you :-)! I have to say I'm in total agreement. Not that I'm biased or anything... ;-)

  25. oh I have been asleep at the wheel!!!
What a delicious baby! Oh, I love being a grandma and I'm sure you will too - what a lucky girl to have such a talented granny!

  26. Jan - Awww... thank you :-) *blush*. And I think she's a delicious little girl, too :-). Of course, I am biased... ;-). I'm already finding out what a great thing it is to be a grandma, and it's only been two days :-).
